Yes, Christmas is in a few days so why am I already writing about setting a New Year’s Resolution? No, I’m not trying to fast forward through the holidays. I love the holiday season and want to squeeze every ounce out of the celebration this year. But, since I’ve been trying to create more balance in my life, I can’t help but think about my 2016 resolution.
Do you make a New Year’s Resolution every year? Some people focus on diets and losing weight, others set goals to go to a gym. Some people focus on saving money, others set goals to go on a vacation. Some people focus on finding more work-life balance, others set goals to get that much anticipated promotion.
For me? I want to focus on establishing a better work-life balance. Now that my husband has more of a “normal work schedule” due to a position change in his department, we are able to have evenings and weekends together as a family. I can also throw in the fact that our son now goes to school a few times every week.
Being able to set times to work, set times to unplug and be with family, and set times to find a bit of “me time” is something that my workaholic self has been thinking about for quite some time.
Having some type of a balance is becoming all the more necessary, especially with a child. I want to continue to be there for my family and for work. I want to be plugged in when I need to be and unplugged when I need to be. It’s that simple, right? Well, now it’s time to put some plans into place and follow through with trying to establish a work-life balance.
So, it’s official. My New Year’s Resolution in 2016 is to find the work-life balance that works for both my family and for me.
What’s your New Year’s resolution?
