On hot summer days, it can be so easy to skip your normal beauty routine. The last thing you want to do is spend time in the bathroom getting yourself ready for the day only to go out in the heat. But, if you have your summer beauty essentials in order and ready to be used every morning, your beauty routine can be simple and quick which will leave you feeling confident and ready to enjoy the sun and fun that comes with summer.
Summer beauty essentials are just that. Essential. Why? They are essential to helping you feel moisturized. They are essential to protecting your skin. They are essential to helping you feel confident, especially in the heat.
10 Summer Beauty Essentials
Here are some of my favorite summer beauty essentials that leave me feeling confident and comfortable during the warm summer days.
1.) Moisturizing Body Wash
Although the days can be humid during the summer, skin still has a tendency to be a bit on the dry side during the warmer months. Using a moisturizing body wash will help keep your skin feeling great in and out of the shower.
2.) Good Razor
Make sure you have a good razor and shaving cream, especially since you’ll be heading to the beach, pool, or boat throughout the summer. There’s nothing like a good shave to help you feel confident as you slip into your swimsuit.
3.) Foot Scrubber Tool
I always keep a foot scrubber in my shower. When I’m just about done showering, I give the bottom of my feet a quick scrub with the tool to keep my feet from getting too rough. Having soft feet during the summer is always a nice feeling, especially when wearing sandals.
4.) Deodorant and Spray/Perfume
Let’s just say the dog days of summer can be hot, humid, sticky, uncomfortable, close … the list can go on and on. Be sure to apply your deodorant and spritz yourself with your favorite spray or perfume to keep you feeling fresh throughout the day. I even keep deodorant in my bag just in case I need to reapply while I’m out and about during a hot summer day.
5.) Moisturizing Skincare
It’s never too late to start taking care of your skin. For the longest time, I had a horrible skin regimen. I barely took off my makeup, hardly ever moisturized, and rarely thought about using a healthy-aging skincare product. Are you cringing yet? A few years ago, I decided that my regimen needed an overhaul, especially as I became a mother and started to see fine lines and wrinkles.
Now I’m a firm believer that using quality skincare products throughout the year is incredibly important, especially during the summer months when the sun can be very harsh on skin. Since I’m always on the lookout for quality skincare products to help my skin looking and feeling great, I recently came across Organic Doctor, an award-winning skincare and hair care line, that just launched in the US. Hailing from Britain, Organic Doctor scours the planet for the finest botanical and naturally inspired ingredients to ensure that bioactive properties of the organic ingredients are truly captured.
Organic Doctor carries 8 Collections, each of which has a unique story to tell, giving consumers the opportunity to discover exciting ingredients from around the world. The following are two of the Organic Doctor products that I have added to my beauty routine this summer:
- Organic Snail Gell Snail Gel offers a new generation in skin revitalization care. We use the unique secretion the snail uses to regenerate its own shell to help hydrate and moisturize maturing skin.
- Organic Doctor® Virgin Coconut Oil is a deeply moisturizing and hydrating super oil that has been valued for its intensely hydrating and nourishing properties. Organic Doctor Virgin Coconut Oil is sourced from organic farms in Sri Lanka and the Philippines where the coconut palm is native and referred to as “the tree of life.”
As you can see from the descriptions, the products not only help revitalize my skin, but they also hydrate and moisturize my skin leaving it feeling incredible throughout the warm summer days.

6.) Makeup Brushes
You don’t need super expensive or countless makeup brushes to be able to apply makeup in a nice way. With just a few makeup brushes, you’ll be well on your way to a great makeup routine. Just be sure to keep your makeup brushes clean.
Cleaning your makeup brushes is such an important step in your beauty routine. As you use your makeup brushes, bits of makeup, oil, dirt, and bacteria tend to build up in the bristles over time. Why would you want to put that bacteria all over a clean face? If you skip the makeup brush cleaning routine, you could end up with clogged pores, nasty breakouts, and filthy bacteria all over your face. Click here for a simple way to clean your makeup brushes.
7.) Eyelash and Eyebrow Comb
After applying mascara and eyebrow powder, I love to give my lashes and brows a thorough combing to help keep my look a bit more refined, even if I’m wearing a casual summer look.
8.) Eyelash Curler
Even if you skip the makeup routine during the summer months, you can quickly curl your eyelashes to help keep your eyes looking bright and awake.
9.) Hair Smoothing Serum
My hair has a tendency to get a bit frizzy when it’s humid outside. I have a lot of hair it’s just a lot of thin hair that has a tiny bit of curl to it. During the summer, I like to add a bit of curl to my hair by using a straightener so that I don’t have to battle my straightened hair turning curly throughout the day. Before doing anything to my hair, though, I always make sure I apply a hair smoothing serum that also serves as a heat protectant from my blow dryer and straightener.
10.) SPF Lip Balm
We recently enjoyed a vacation to Mexico and I forgot to pack my SPF chapstick. For weeks after we returned from the trip I was battling a horrible case of chapped lips. I was incredibly self conscious and in quite a bit of pain as my lips healed. I learned my lesson that I should never go a day in the sun without SPF lip balm.
