After you wake up, between taking care of the kids and trying to find time to shower and make a cup of coffee, the last thing that often comes to mind (if it comes to mind at all) is your bed. Who has time to make a bed every morning? I get it. I also get that making the bed every morning makes such a big difference in simplifying life. Why? It’s a great way to start your day.
You don’t have to be elaborate when it comes to bed making. Simply pull the sheets tight, tuck them, pull your comforter neatly into place, arrange your pillows, and be done with it. With just a few simple moves, in under a minute you’ll have a bed that is made and looking great.
Why does making your bed every morning matter?
1.) Have a Sense of Accomplishment
By making your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. One of your first feelings of the day will be a sense of accomplishment and pride. From there, your body will be encouraged and driven to make more accomplishments throughout the day. What’s not to love about starting your day off on the right foot?
2.) Keep the Room Clean
Instead of having sheets and pillows all over the place, having a made bed will instantly create a sense of calm, cleanliness, and organization in your bedroom.
3.) Sleep Better
The National Sleep Foundation studied sleep habits of people and realized that people who make their beds every day or almost every day are more likely to get a good night’s sleep every day or almost every day. I couldn’t agree more with that. When I crawl into a bed that is made, I instantly feel more comfortable. Don’t you agree?
4.) Create Healthy Habits
By implementing bed making into your daily morning routine, you are bound to discover just how much this one small task will make you happier. This healthy feeling will then encourage you to create more healthy habits throughout your daily routine that will help you maintain a happy and healthy home.
5.) Avoid Embarrassment
Who wants to have a messy room when having guests visit? With kids in the home, you’re bound to have fingerprints on the windows and toys on the floor. However, as mentioned before, with just a few simple moves every morning, you can avoid the unmade bed embarrassment and have a room that is instantly more presentable to guests and family members.
How often do you make your bed?

I love this habit! I also like to air out the bed since we live in a very humid area and I’m a humid person. ;) But I didn’t like delaying in bed making. I’ve started making the bed and pulling all the covers & topsheet down neatly to the bottom third of the bed. That way, at least the top part and pillows air well, and the bed is still made. Later if I’d like, I am able to pull the covers up and add the extra pillows to fully make bed. Win win!
