In my kitchen, I’m all about creating and using different methods to make the time spent preparing food simple and enjoyable. Whether it’s using new tools to make tasks easier or learning to make the most out of the ingredients I already have in my kitchen, I’m constantly trying to find ways to simplify life in the kitchen.
Recently, I was contacted by the innovative people at Perfect Portions, a company that is revolutionizing the way people use food scales for portion control and weight management. The Perfect Portions Food Scale + Nutrition Facts is a scale and nutritional calculator in one. Thanks to its countless features, this scale is the perfect tool to use if you are interested in losing weight, maintaining a healthy diet, controlling portions, baking by weight or understanding which foods are instrumental to good health.
Design
This scale is designed with a stylish glass-top surface and touchpad keys. The sleek design of this scale makes it easy to store in a kitchen drawer or leave it out on the counter for convenience and style. Plus, with five different colors to choose from (black, white, silver, red and blue), you can buy one that matches the decor of your kitchen. Thanks to the clever design, the touchpad keys are easy-to-clean with a damp cloth, making this scale both beautiful and functional.
Functionality
This scale is unlike any other scale I’ve ever seen not only in terms of looks but also in functionality. The scale is pre-programmed with nutritional information for nearly 2000 different types of food. The scale also allows you to enter up to 99 customizable food entries, enabling you to easily and accurately track the nutritional values of everything you consume.
Accuracy
Once the food is placed on the glass-top surface, the scale immediately calculates the nutritional value of foods and ingredients. What I love the most about this scale is that all of the information — calories, fats, cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrates, fiber, sugar and protein — is displayed in the familiar and iconic Nutrition Label format that is positioned right on the glass-top surface. Unlike other nutritional scales, the Perfect Portions Scale breaks down the information into % daily value and allows you to keep track of all the nutritional information for food weighed over time. With a simple push of a button, you can review your total intake of calories, fat or salt at the end of the day or week which makes this scale perfect for goal tracking.
Satisfaction
With the sleek design, ease of use and exceptional functionality, as stated in the name, this is the perfect scale to track and maintain consumption of perfect portions. Currently, I rarely measure my food but now that I have this handy little scale, I’m trying to train myself to get in the habit of measuring my portions to monitor carbohydrates, watch salt intake, count calories, track cholesterol and weigh food. At only $59.99, this scale offers so many features that make it an excellent value for the money. Lucky for you, the kind people at Perfect Portions would love for one of my readers to win one of these amazing scales.

I would use this as a personal tool, but I am also planning to share this with family and consumer sciences educators, as they teach nutrition and health in many schools. They will find this scale to be a great tool in teaching about portion control.

This would be awesome for me right now. I have decided to once in for all lose the excess 50lbs because the extra weight has started to affect my health in a very noticeable way. Portion control is one of the things I have issues with.

I really need a decent scale for my kitchen. All I have is a cheap plastic one that I'm worried I'll break someday (it doesn't seem very sturdy).

I've always wanted to have a scale for portion control since I'm so bad at guessing measurements!

Who knew a scale could do all that? This might be the boost I need to actually practice portion control, not just think about it!

Sounds like just what we need to simplify our new eating plan! My two teenage daughters and I all started "dieting" three weeks ago, and are constantly spending time trying to weigh and measure our food on an outdated, cheap, scale that I isn't very accurate. Our theory is that we can eat just about normally,IF we eat the correct portions to keep our calories, fat grams, etc in line. We would LOVE the Perfect Portions Scale and would definitely put it to good use!
Thanks for your wonderful blog!

I would love this scale! So many healthy food blogs that I follow list ingredients in weight for their recipes – so this would be so great!

Oh, this would be so helpful to both my husband & my self. I always cook fairly healthy food, but really struggle with portion control. How many almonds are too many? Can I eat 4 apples in one day? I don't know!

GASP! I just added a food scale to my Christmas list, but this one is so much nicer! I'd really like to get within my healthy weight range before I get pregnant with baby #2. My email is sheena clevenger at gmail dot com

This scale would be useful to me because aside from my bathroom scale, I don't have a scale and I've been wanting to get one because I've been cooking more at home lately. Half pound of chicken? Total guestimate at this point!
