Hosting a dinner party can be stressful. You have to consider the menu, the seating arrangements, the table decor, the flower arrangements … the list can go on and on. One thing that I have found over the years is that if I get the task of table setting out of the way first, everything else falls into place nicely.
Why set the table the night before a dinner party?
1.) Embrace Your Creativity
Instead of rushing to make sure you have enough plates, silverware, and napkins in between preparing the dishes, by setting up the table the night before, you can be sure that you have enough of everything. Once that’s settled, you have breathing room to play with the flower arrangements, place settings, and centerpieces. If you’re rushed, you might not have enough time the day of to achieve your dream table setting.
2.) Experience Less Stress
Setting the table can be a time-consumer. You’re constantly running from the kitchen to the dinner table. You’re constantly thinking of how to make sure that your table setting and decor match the theme of the meal. You’re constantly worrying whether or not you have enough platters and silverware. By having the table set the night before, you’ll experience less stress the day of your dinner party.
3.) Feel Prepared
Waking up the day of a dinner party to see that the table is set will give you a sense of accomplishment. With a major task crossed off your dinner party list, you’ll have more time to dedicate to other dinner party tasks.
