You guys. College football starts and I seriously cannot wait to see my boys in green and white kickoff tomorrow night. That’s right, Go Green. I look forward to waking up on Saturday to watch College Gameday, setting out appetizers as we anticipate the big game, and cheering on our favorite team. Do you know what else I’m excited about? Watching the games with our son.
One of his favorite words is “football” and we’ve been trying to get him to say “Go Green!” and “Sparty.” Our son loves his football book, playing with his football, and flipping through my husband’s football magazines. His eyes light up at the sight of the game and I know that he is going to be a great game day pal.
The other day while we were at the park, we could hear whistles being blown and cheerleaders cheering on their team. I took our son out of the swing and headed toward the commotion. When we arrived at the top of the hill, we looked down and saw one of his favorite sights … his first in-person football game.
His eyes took in every square inch of the scene and his ears were filled with cheers and call playing. He stood still for minutes as he took everything in and then he took a deep breath, looked up at me with a big smile, and yelled “Football!”
He’s only one and a half and already one of the biggest sports fans I know. Are his mom and dad proud? One thousand percent.
