On most mornings, I usually have about 30 minutes to get myself and our son out the door and on the way to his school. Yes, I could wake up earlier and give myself more time but I like to push the limits, live on the edge, and stay comfy in bed until the last possible minute.
So, there I am, hopping into the shower, blow drying my hair, throwing on clothes, putting on makeup, bathing our son, grabbing a quick bite to eat, and then hopping in the car, and then heading to his school. Yes, I can get that done in 30 minutes. I feel like I run a marathon just about every time but I get it done.
We all have mornings where we are strapped for time. Between trying to figure out what to wear to grabbing everything you need for the day, mornings can be stressful. For that reason, I’m all about streamlining the way I get ready for the day. With a two-year-old in tow, there’s not much time for muss and fuss.
The simpler the routine, the better … right?
5 Minute Makeup Routine
I’m all about the five minute makeup routine. I don’t have time to stand by the mirror applying all sorts of layers, powders, shades, etc. I need this time to be quick, efficient, and worth it. So, here’s a favorite five minute makeup routine to help you get out the door quickly.
Start With Foundation
What I love about foundation is that it evens out your skin tone and provides even looking coverage. A weightless brand is always a nice touch too. Cover any under eye circles or noticeable redness. Make sure to blend and apply to your neck so that your head doesn’t look like it’s detached from your neck. Blend, blend, blend.
Add Blush
Lightly contour your cheeks by adding a bit of bronzer. Then, add a bit of blush to the apples of your checks to give your face a natural looking flush. Go light on this step to keep your face looking fresh.
Focus on the Eyes
For an everyday look, simply apply a bit of eyeliner and use a brush to smooth out the eyeliner lines. Next, brush on eye shadow that makes your eyes pop. Since I have hazel eyes, I love using a carmel/brown eye shadow every day. With the light shimmer, this eye shadow is easy to apply and makes a big difference. Finish off the look with mascara applied to both bottom and top lashes. You can even add a bit of light colored eye shadow to the corners of your eyes to help you look more bright-eyed and awake. But, that’s totally not necessary if you’re really short on time.
Moisturize the Pout
I hardly ever wear lipstick since it has a tendency to wear off quickly. I simply apply my favorite lip balm and call it a day. That way, I can apply the lip balm as needed throughout the day.
And there you have it. I promise these steps are quick and easy. I do these steps on a daily basis and have perfected my makeup routine to five minutes or less. Who has time to apply makeup for minutes on end when they have a two-year-old wanting to play? Not me!
