The morning weather is becoming more crisp as we start to transition into the fall season. We’ve had such a fun summer but I can’t lie. Fall is my favorite season. From the food to the football, the boots to the sweaters, there’s nothing better than the smell of cinnamon spice and the taste of pumpkin spice.
There are so many fun and simple fall activities that you can do to embrace the fall season. But, how do you embrace the season within your home?
10 Ways to Transition from Summer to Fall Home Decor
1.) Change Textiles
Switch out your pillow covers, throw blankets, curtains, and/or rugs throughout your home to warmer fall colors instead of the bright summer colors.
2.) Set Out Fall-Scented Candles
There are a wide variety of fall-scented soy candles out on the market that will help you fill your home with the wonderful scents of the fall season. Cinnamon, pumpkin, and vanilla are just a few of the scents that are all about the fall season.
3.) Create Decorative Displays
Place pumpkins and gourds throughout your home in decorative displays. You can also combine candles with with seasonal fruit to help set the ambiance in your home.
4.) Pay Attention to the Front Door
Make sure you’re front door is welcoming. You can add some pumpkins and gourds to the front stoop. Hang a wreath from the front door that is perfect for the fall season.
5.) Mix Textures and Patterns
Pick up some linen pillows, find plaid prints, purchase flour sack towels … don’t be afraid to mix textures and patterns to warm up the interior of your home.
6.) Change Your Bedding
Find seasonal pieces to add to your bedding. Whether it’s a new comforter or a throw, find patterns and textures that will make your bed nice and cozy for the chilly fall nights and mornings.
7.) Display Flowers
Go to any grocery store or market and you’re bound to find beautiful fall flower arrangements. Try to find leafy, darker toned flowers and arrangements to place throughout your home.
8.) Change Photos
You can replace some of the photos that you have throughout your home with photos taken during past fall seasons.
9.) Update Hand Towels
By updating the hand towels in your bathroom, you’ll add a simple touch of fall to a space that could feel neglected during the fall decorating season. Try setting out dark, rich tones that will warm up the space. Or, find textures that are unique (like flour sack towels).
10.) Prepare Your Fireplace
You can decorate the fireplace mantel or hearth with fall-themed decor. Fall is when the fireplace will start to be used often so why not make the space extra beautiful?
