Let’s face it. Mornings can be hectic. From getting yourself and the kiddos ready to packing school lunches to grabbing all of the necessary materials to help get you through the day to finding lost shoes to squeezing in breakfast … even though there are so many items to check off the morning list, there are certain ways to make mornings easier.
5 Ways to Make Mornings Easier
1.) Organize Your Closet
Before you go to bed at night, be sure to set out your clothes for the next day. Have your kiddos do the same thing. That way, when you get out of the shower the next morning, you and your kids don’t have to spend time wondering what you’re going to wear that day. The last thing you want to hear is, “Mom, I have nothing to wear!” And you certainly don’t want to have that feeling about your own wardrobe bright and early in the morning. From the shoes to the shirt to the pants, set out everything the night before to avoid closet time stress in the morning.
2.) Create a Spot for Shoes
The case of the missing shoe … we’ve all encountered that problem, right? In our closet, I have a basket dedicated for my husband’s shoes and a basket dedicated for my shoes. I also have a spot for our son’s shoes. Oh, and socks too. My son’s socks, since they were so small, were always getting lost and were always a pain to find matches. I added a box in our mud room that is full of his socks. That way, we can quickly grab socks and shoes and be on our way.
3.) Dedicate a Place for Your Keys
The last thing you want to do is get ready, have arms full of bags, and the kiddos ready to head out the door … and then you can’t find the car keys. Hmmm … where can they be?! Have a hook (or multiple hooks) by your door that can hold your car keys.
4.) Pack Lunch the Night Before
Make sure you have tupperware, baggies, and other essentials to help you pack lunch(es) the night before. Instead of rushing through the lunch making process (which usually ends up with throwing a bunch of grab-and-go items into a bag), spend a few minutes before you head to bed preparing lunch(es) for the next day. That way, the family members can grab-and-go healthy meals instead of a bunch of grab-and-go snacks.
5.) Make Time for Breakfast
I’m a firm believer that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If I don’t have breakfast, then I don’t feel like myself. Besides thoughts of taking care of my son and the day that lies ahead, one of my first thoughts every morning is usually about food. I love food. There is hardly a day that goes by where I don’t sit down at the table or counter in the morning and enjoy breakfast.
Me? I’m all about cereal, juice, and coffee. Hardly a day goes by where I don’t pour myself a bowl of cereal, juice, and/or coffee. To me, that’s the perfect way to fill me up and get me fueled for the day ahead.
