For Mother’s Day, my husband was going to be all sweet and get me a tree. That way, we could plant the tree in the backyard in a spot where I could easily see it. The tree would represent the love my family had for me and would always be a kind reminder whenever I saw the tree while either spending time inside or playing in the backyard with my kids and dogs.
I mean, talk about sweetness. He is seriously so incredibly thoughtful. Thank you for the awesome gift idea, babe.
Unfortunately, I shattered all of those plans when I took one look in my closet and another look at my wardrobe. You guys. I practically live in yoga pants. I mean, I thought my fashion was on a downward spiral after having one child. Add another kid into the mix and my closet was looking pretty sad.
A few weeks ago, I went through a massive closet purge and donated four bags of clothes and one bag of shoes. Even after all of that, I think it’s safe to say that after the purge I really only wear 2-3 shirts that are in my closet, one pair of jeans, and all of the yoga pants I can find.
I looked at my husband and said, “You know what … this is totally not like me but for Mother’s Day I would really like to buy myself some clothes.” I’m always buying clothes for the kids and my husband is always so nicely dressed. He told me his plans about the tree but then said that I’m never happy with my clothes so if a shopping trip will make me happy then a shopping trip can be my gift.
So, I’m going shopping tomorrow. You guys. I’m nervous and excited. I don’t remember the last time I had a shopping trip dedicated solely to getting clothes for myself. If I remember correctly, it was probably back when I was still in school. Yikes.
So, tomorrow’s the big day. And, in preparation for the big day, I’ve been doing some research on the types of clothes that I want to buy myself. I want clothes that represent me. I want clothes that aren’t yoga pants. I want clothes that make me confident and comfortable.
My goal? Go 30 days without yoga pants. Do you think I can do it?
Here are some of my favorite items that I found during my research. It’s time to go shopping!
What’s your summer must-have?
